bridal hairstyles for very fine hair

Where fine hair is concerned, whatever your hair length, doing a Google search for bridal hairstyles can be a bit disheartening.

This is because lots of bridal hairstyles seem to have been created on models with seemingly long hair – and lots of it!

But don’t despair, a lot of the bridal hairstyles on Instagram have been created with the help of extensions.

Bridal hairstyle smoke & mirrors

Hair extensions are used extensively (excuse the pun) in lots of bridal hairstyle images out there.

But, although they can look great, they are by no means essential.

A lot of my brides, whether they have fine hair or not, prefer not to use extensions in their wedding day hairstyles.

This isn’t a problem at all, as with the right bridal hairstyle know-how, some of the most beautiful bridal hairstyles can be created with fine hair.

beautiful bridal hair styles

By using the right hair prep your bridal hairstylist will be able to work with your fine hair.

And they’ll make it appear fuller and thicker.

So it will be perfect for creating a wide range of bridal and wedding day hairstyles.

It’s best to allow plenty of time for your hair trial and what’s more, your hair will need to be squeaky clean.

This is because fine hair has a tendency to get greasy easily. And if there is one thing that can make fine hair look even thinner it’s a layer of grease.

hair products for fine hair

If you are a DIY bride, it’s important that you don’t over load your hair with product. And go very sparingly with serums and leave in conditioners.

The problem with these products if that they can over load and weigh down your fine hair.

With the result being hard-to-manage hair and a bridal hairstyle that could’ve been so much better.

If you have fallen into this bridal hairstyling trap, all is not lost.

You can rescue your ailing fine hair with a generous spray of dry shampoo.

The batiste brand has 2 great options, with one for dark and one for fair hair.

The best bridal hairstyle products for fine hair

With the right hair styling products, you’ll be able to get the best out of your fine hair for your wedding day hairstyle.

Soft, silky, fine hair can be given extra oomph and volume by using a texturising product such as Fudge Urban Sea Salt Spray.

You’ll be able to get extra volume and texture, which is just what you’ll need to achieve your perfect bridal hairstyle.

taming fine flyaway hair

What’s more, this product works like magic when it comes to taming fine flyaway hair.

And what’s more, it is super lightweight so it won’t weigh down fine hair.

Even better, it can double up as a finishing product so you can get an extra shine to your wedding hairstyles.

In short, having fine hair, whether it’s long, short or in between won’t stop you from having a totally beautiful bridal hairstyle!

Bridal Hairstyles for natural curls

Working with natural curls

When creating bridal hairstyles for natural curls consideration has to be given to the fact that curly hair can be unpredictable.

So, it’s important that you find a wedding hairstylist who knows what they are doing.

Particularly when it comes to making the most of your beautiful naturally curly hair on your wedding day.

There are lots of options available with it comes to styling your naturally beautiful curls on the big day.

So the wedding hair trial is essential.

The first decision is do you rock your natural curls for your bridal hairstyle . . . or fake it?

Wedding Hair Styles for natural curls

Choosing the right wedding hairstylist and using the right products are key. Especially when it comes to rocking your natural curls on your wedding day.

And time.

Don’t be on a time limit when you have your bridal hair trial, because you can’t rush the perfect natural curl.

Your stylist will need to work out if your natural curls need to be styled from wet, damp or dry.

The timings will depend on how much hair you have, whether it is summer or winter, and what technique is best for your hair.

If you’re styling your naturally curly hair from wet it will need time to dry. So you can see the results!

HAIRSTYLE PRODUCTS FOR NATURAL CURLS

Your stylist will bring products along with them. However, I always ask my curly girl brides to have their own curly girl hairstyle products to hand.

As a curly hair girl myself I have spent a life time trying to find just the right product for my hair.

I find my brides invariably know what products work best on their own naturally curly hair.

Achieving the perfect curl for your wedding day hairstyle is very much a joint effort, between your bridal hairstylist and you!

When working with natural curls achieving the perfect curl takes time. Natural curls cannot be rushed, but boy, is it worth it!!

Natural curls are gorgeous!!

Curly hair wedding hairstyle choices

If you feel your natural curls are too unpredictable or you just don’t like your curls, no need to worry.

As naturally curly hair girls we have the option of changing our curls.

You can tweak them, straighten them and even re-curl them. If you opt to re-curl your hair you have an even sized curl all over.

Re-curling your hair is a great option if you are unsure of how reliable your natural curl will be on your wedding day.

Naturally curly hair tends to hold a curl really well.

Curling your hair with tongs or straighteners will give you a glossy, even sized curl, that can be styled in to a beautiful wedding day hairstyle.

Your wedding day curls will stay curly and your wedding day hairstyle will look beautiful all day!

DIY Bridal HAirstyles for natural curls

You might be just the expert you need to create to the perfect curl for your wedding day hair style.

If you are used to styling your hair every day then read on!

Working with your natural curls, applying the products and taming your frizz might be second nature by now.

If so, you might actually be the best person to work that magic on your natural curls for your wedding day.

Trial and error

Perhaps like me, you’ve finally found curly girl hair products that actually work on your natural curls.

You’ve worked out how much product to apply and when its best to wash to wash you hair.

Finally and just as important, you know how long your natural curls take to dry.

If you answer yes to points above, then you might actually be the best person for the job!

In short, if you are happy achieving the curl you like – then why not?

natural curls Hair-style Expert

As I mentioned, you might not believe it but you are the expert on you!

I’m not suggesting you style your wedding day hair or attempt to create a bridal up-do. It will probably be best to leave that to a pro bridal hair stylist.

But, if you do decide to create your own perfect curls on your wedding day there are a couple of points to bear in mind.

Depending on your hair thickness and curl type you might even find it better to wash your hair the day before.

You can apply your curl products and let your hair dry slowly and naturally.

Your bridal hairstylist would just need to come armed with a water spray and a bit of curl cream.

As it’s likely they will need to tame any last-minute flyaways after your hair has been styled!

Hair styles for Curly girl brides

There are lots of options when it comes to choosing the perfect wedding day bridal hairstyle. Try different ideas and find out how to show your gorgeous natural curls off at their very best.

Soft relaxed styles are always a great option when it comes to making the most of your natural curls on your wedding day.

And for those of you with thin fine hair, like me, it’s best to opt for a soft relaxed wedding day hair style.

What’s more, keeping your natural curl, rather than straightening your hair, will help give the illusion of thicker, fuller hair.

If you are worried that your hair might shrink too much, or might revert to frizz if left open to the elements – on a damp, wet or windy day – then opt for an up-do on the wedding day.

A soft low bun is a fabulous wedding day hair style.

With the right bridal hair stylist these hairstyles can be it created on even quite short hair, giving the illusion of length and fullness.

If you’ve been blessed with beautiful long naturally curly hair, may be a gorgeous top knot or high bun will be a perfect bridal hairstyle for your wedding day.

Alternatively, why not let your curls do the talking.

Keep your hair down and show it off in all its natural glory!

Wedding Hairstyle Ideas

Wedding Hairstyle Ideas

high bun hairstyle natural bridal makeup high bun by Pam Wrigley london surrey berkshire kent hampshire uk

Hairstyle Ideas for your big day

This page is dedicated to wedding hairstyle ideas, so I can offer you a little bit of inspiration for your big day.

Whatever the length of your hair you’ll be able to find the perfect wedding day hairstyle.

And, although there are lots of style ideas and inspiration to be had on Instagram, finding a hairstyle that will be right for you on your wedding day is another story altogether.

wedding hair trial run

That’s where the trial run comes into its own. I always suggest my brides do a bit of research in advance of the trial, that way you can start to narrow down your style ideas a bit.

Having a few images to look at on the trial will also be really helpful for me as well. Because I will get a rough idea of the sort of wedding hairstyles that you like.

Your wedding hairstyle ideas may vary widely, and that’s no problem.

Don’t worry, it will help me to get a feel for you and the sort of looks that you might potentially go for.

Having said that, the images are just a starting point. When choosing the right hairstyle we’ll also need to consider your dress, jewellery, hair accessories and your venue.

So, there are lots of things to consider before I even put a comb through your hair.

clean or dirty hair

It is a myth that dirty hair is better to work with when it comes to creating wedding day hair styles.

Well, I suppose it depends on your definition of dirty.

Perhaps it’s better to say greasy hair is never good to put up!

I usually recommend my brides arrive for their trial run with clean, dry hair.

You can either wash your hair the day before the bridal trial or if your hair gets greasy easily you can wash it on the morning of the trial run.

One point to note however, I always ask my brides not to use any leave-in products, deep conditioners or serum.

Certain leave-in products can make the hair super soft and slippery, as a result, they can be a bridal hairstylists nightmare!

Curly hair brides can, however, disregard this rule!

Because the rules regarding leave-in products do not apply if you have naturally curly hair.

The starting point is always slightly different when coming up with wedding hairstyle ideas for naturally curly hair, and it will be different for each curly hair bride.

Please get in touch to discuss your individual curl requirements!

AUDREY HEPBURN

We had to start with possibly the ultimate bridal icon. If you want an effortlessly chic look then this is the look to go for. The classic ‘Audrey Up-do’ is sophisticated, it’s classic simplicity makes it a style that works with any wedding dress. This timeless back pleated style is perfect for keeping long, thick hair off your face but it’s the ideal style for short or mid length too! You would be amazed at how much can be done with short hair.

Let’s not forget the cute, pixie crop that Audrey rocked for her own wedding back in the 1950s. If you have short hair or are holding off on a bold haircut, why not be brave and copycat this gorgeous look? It’s a beautiful, feminine and perfect as contrast against a detailed dress or minimalistic with a vintage style gown.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1534416895487{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]Embed from Getty Images[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1534416210106{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]If you want to introduce a Hepburn vibe into you make up look, be sure to keep the brows bold – she’s known for those gorgeous face-framers! Subtle yet smoky eye-shadow can be used to give the appearance of large, doe eyes, paired of course with the obligatory eyeliner to create a beautiful winged tip. Fake lashes are a must for fluttery peepers too, but individual lashes are always better than strip for a natural look.

Unlike many vintage icons, for Audrey, you want to avoid a red lip and instead opt for a soft pink. Girlish and fresh, yet sexy.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1534416247436{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

BRIGITTE BARDOT

Once dubbed the most beautiful woman in the world, who doesn’t want a little of that on their wedding day? Her classic style was the bouffant 60s hair, but with a sultry, casual edge and cat eye make-up. Back combing is a big part of this look to add volume and height.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3060″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1534417508987{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1534416285676{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]Part of the charm of Brigitte’s look was that it always felt effortless and was far from perfect, ideal for those of you with a natural wave. Keep it uncomplicated and relaxed.

Much like Audrey, much of the focus is on the cat eyeliner and this is essential to really nail this look. The rest of the face should be kept flawless but not overdone  and lips should be natural for a beautiful bridal style.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1534417520445{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]Embed from Getty Images[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1534416335625{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

NAOMI CAMPBELL

Think long, sleek and shiny. Naomi Campbell kept her 90s hair super simple, often with a centre parting – a look that is back in fashion and easy to achieve but has optimum impact. The right products are essential to keep this look perfect – you want that hair looking glossy all day long!

Consider your style of dress when thinking about this minimalist hair down style – if you have very long hair like Naomi and have lots of back detail on your dress, you don’t want to obscure it! But this also works on that very 90s bob style and that could show off a beautifully back really well.

When it comes to the make-up, it’s all about the shaped eyebrow and natural make up to suit your skin tone.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1534416415649{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

BIANCA JAGGER

This dark haired beauty was high fashion! Her long dark hair had a soft roll – feminine, sexy but so simple. For this look, we want to keep your hair shiny and voluminous with a side parting for serious feminine charm.

At her own wedding day in the 70s, Bianca perfected the no make-up, make-up look before it’s time and wore a hat, so don’t feel as though you have to stick to conventional wedding looks if you want to add some real personality. She was also known for a luscious lip and a heavy lashes. Think deep, sexy eyes and contour to give you cheekbones. Bad-ass elegance![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1534417684819{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]Embed from Getty Images[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1534416440682{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

THE DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE, KATE MIDDLETON

Kate is the ultimate bridal icon! You can create her wedding look regardless of your hair type. If you’re blessed with luxurious, long locks then blow-drying and soft curls will be all you need. If you have thinner hair, you may need to consider adding some extensions for some extra bounce.

Pinned back the sides create the ‘demi-chignon’ for the most royal of wedding looks. If you want to channel your inner Kate but want to avoid copying her bridal look, she has so many looks she has worn since her wedding day that you’ll be sure to love! Chignons, half-up/half-down, ponytails and natural waves…dignified and graceful.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1534416468118{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]To create her make up look, keep your foundation dewy or matte with blusher creating a pop on the apples of your cheeks, for a rosy glow. A neutral eye shadow is ideal for the lid with a darker shade closer to the lash line, finished with a slight flick of eyeliner and black lashes.

Kate tends to stick with a natural lip and the royal tradition of Essie Ballet Slipper nails, so avoid anything too bold.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1534417789868{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]Embed from Getty Images[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1534416510705{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

GRACE KELLY

Grace Kelly’s was one of the most famous brides of the 20th century and is one to be inspired by if you love vintage up-dos with soft, small curls and gentle volume. This is a style that can be created with any length of hair. If, however, you have shorter hair and don’t want an up-do, create a smooth, slicked back style with curls at the bottom for modern vintage.

Grace Kelly wasn’t known for her make-up, but this speaks volumes about the make-up she wore. Perfectly simple, there but almost not! Opt for a light coverage make up, keep it pale and fresh with a little blush. Go light on the eyeliner and avoid heavy eye shadow. One coat of mascara is all you’ll need and maybe a few individual lashes for definition in those wedding photos. Stick to a lip shade close to your natural colour and add lip liner to finish off the look.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1534418311400{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

SOPHIA LOREN

Who says brides can’t be sexy? If you want a sensual look for your wedding day, Sophia Loren is your bridal icon.

Her hair was voluptuous and sultry. Big barrel curls for a romantic, sexy bridal look. If you have short hair, add volume! Big and beautiful! Go for a big, bold cat-eye for ultimate sex appeal and long, long lashes. Draw all the attention to the eye and stick to a natural lip.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1534417931614{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]Embed from Getty Images[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1534416590610{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

RHIANNA

Rhianna may not have been your immediate thought when planning your wedding look but, there isn’t a signature look to emulate here, it’s an essence! Rihanna is bold when it comes to her style. She’s rocked long hair, short hair and every colour you can think of. If you want to keep your look modern, young and playful – consider her as your inspiration!

She’s definitely a believer in lip OR eye. Smokey eye versus a bold, bold lip! Don’t be afraid to experiment, you have time to trial your look before the big day.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1534418086849{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]Embed from Getty Images[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1534418395076{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

MEGHAN MARKLE

We couldn’t discuss your bridal icon and not mention Meghan! Meghan’s gorgeous, shiny hair and ‘messy’ buns are exactly what you need on your wedding day. Keep some hair around the face to keep the look delicate and ‘undone’

Meghan’s make up look has evolved over the years, since becoming a royal she’s kept her look natural and neutral. She defines her eyes with mascara and keeps her skin glowy. She doesn’t make the make-up the focus and so if you’re not a big make-up wearer, follow her lead and keep it soft and delicate.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1534418207245{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]Embed from Getty Images[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_cta h2=”Want to Sparkle Like Markle?” txt_align=”center” add_button=”bottom” btn_title=”Here’s How…” btn_size=”lg” btn_align=”center” btn_link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.weddingmakeupandhair.com%2F2018%2F05%2Fmeghan-markle-wedding%2F|||”][/vc_cta][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”2939″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1534418289986{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]Remember, you don’t have to stick to one bridal icon. Feel free to play around – mix and match! Find something about each one that you like and experiment. Become your own style icon!

Whichever look you opt for, it has to compliment YOU. Colours that work with your skin tone, hairstyles that suit your natural hair. Whilst you want to feel like a superstar on your wedding day, you also want to feel like yourself.

Think carefully about the style of wedding dress and make sure your hair and make up flatter your choice. If you’ve yet to decide on your dress, why not be inspired by your style icon? A theme can work well to give your whole look coherency. Start with the icon and let the rest of the wedding come from there. Be inspired. Experiment. But always feel happy with the choices you’re making, for you.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Stealing the spotlight by swooping up a whopping 5 awards (and splitting one in half with that dedication to Queen Bey!), it’s just as well that Adele was looking as fabulous as she was at this year’s Grammys.

Since her transformation from her early days of style, Adele has really come into her own when it comes to fabulous hair and makeup on the red carpet.

We all know that Adele loves a bit of a retro vibe and she’s showed us how it’s done, yet again, with that striking cat-eye eye liner, strong brows and hair with just the right amount of volume.

The newly solo Camila Cabello wowed in Lavender on the red carpet and showed us that 70s inspired hair and makeup is still going strong in 2017.

There were quite a few celebs that opted for this lovely, loose, beachy wave hairstyle at this year’s Grammys, complete with an off-middle parting to really give the overall ‘I’m naturally this gorgeous’ look. The ‘undone’ appearance of this style is perfect for a Boho bride or a bride who is going for a slightly less formal look whilst still looking absolutely stunning.

Minimal makeup matches this style best, as demonstrated by Camila. Strong brows play a major role here again and eyes are kept simple with taupe, smokey makeup and nearly nude lips.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1487238210733{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Rita Ora

For the more daring or ‘alternative’ brides out there, Rita Ora wears this year’s hot fashion trend of red-toned eye shadow. It’s hard to believe that this would work (we’ve spent so long blending our concealers in to try and get rid of any redness around the eyes!), but as you can see, it clearly does.

Admittedly, it’s perhaps not for the most traditional brides, but if you’re after something a little bit different that really makes you stand out from the crowd, this might be just what you’re after.

The orange tones in this dramatic eye shadow really makes Rita’s warm skin tone flash with radiance, but if you have cool skin tones this might not work so well for you.

Rita’s poker straight locks tied back into a simple, low pony showcases another red carpet trend that we’re bound the see a lot more of this year.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1487238238223{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Kristin Cavallari

Everyone’s talking about Kristin’s plunging neckline at the 2017 Grammys and her ‘perky boob’ comments, but I’m just loving her laid-back hair and makeup style, reminiscent of California beach bum gone red carpet!

Perfect for a summer bride and even just for daily wear – Kristin’s messy, flyaway pony is all the rage and might look a little too thrown together if it wasn’t paired with that bronzed, beach babe makeup and well defined eyes.

With such a show-stopping, brave gown, it would have been remiss to style Kristin’s hair and makeup into anything too showy so her stylist has got it just right![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Emma Stone

Fairytale whimsy complete with starry embellishments starts us off on our run down of Golden Globes bridal inspiration, courtesy of the gorgeous Emma Stone, gracing the red carpet in her Valentino gown.

This very pale pink is a colour we can expect to see a lot more of in 2017, both on the red carpet and down the wedding aisle. Doesn’t it look fabulous with her auburn hair? Definitely one for the red head brides out there!

With a dress so beautifully decorated, Emma has quite rightly kept her makeup fresh and simple to avoid making the overall look too busy. I adore her choice of lip colour here, which flatters her skin tone perfectly. Strong and perfectly groomed brows frame her face whilst a pop of orange toned blusher really brings out those cheek bones.

Emma’s hair hair been put up in a wonderfully loose up do, which exudes elegance whilst still remaining quite relaxed.

Gina Rodriguez

Gina Rodriguez demonstrates perfectly how to do the roaring twenties fashion this year. We’re still loving those beaded tassels, a la 1920s flapper girls, but the Hollywood length and plunging neckline bring this bang up to date.

To continue the theme, Gina has opted for Hollywood waves in her hair, which as you can see look equally amazing on shorter styles as on long locks. Fantastic bridal inspiration for shorter hairstyles.

Lashes play the main role in Gina’s flawless makeup, really amping up the glamour and sex appeal of the whole look.

Lily James

We saw a lot of one shouldered dresses at Bridal Fashion Week in October 2016, set to be the next big thing for Spring 2017. Right on time, Lily James chose to wear this simply stunning, Grecian gown, complete with an attached flowing cape and nipped in waist to really show off those curves. Figure hugging, yet still demure enough for a bride.

Shoulder length hair is the cut of the season, so I’m expecting to work with many more brides with this length in 2017, as opposed to the long tresses that brides-to-be often aim for. Lily has kept her hair cutting edge – shoulder length with loose, messy waves. This creates the ideal counter balance between cool and glamour. She’s also had just a touch of volume and lift added in at the crown for that really regal look.

Smoky eyes are a must here – just check out that smoulder! Her lips have been kept defined but nude though, so as not to over do it.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1485020365135{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Lola Kirke

A newbie on the celeb circuit, Lola Kirke (seen in ‘Gone Girl’ last year) may not be a household name yet but she sure does have her red carpet style down – definitely one to watch for your bridal inspiration.

Just as embellishments are a must for 2017 wedding dresses, so is embroidery, just as Lola has worn here (oh, and there’s that pale pink again!).

Following suit with the length of the moment, shaggy, messy waves in a 70s style give this outfit a really relaxed feel, despite the dress actually being quite ‘princess-like’.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Real Brides Hair & Makeup Inspiration by Pam Wrigley

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1470741379763{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]Summer is always my busiest time of year, filled with fabulous weddings that go on long into the night with those extra hours of daylight (and warmth, if we’re lucky!) that always keeps everyone going; and that can only mean one thing – my brides need gorgeous hair and makeup that won’t budge.

If you’re a bride-to-be, the best hair and makeup inspiration you can get is that of real brides, so that’s why I like to do regular updates featuring the lovely ladies I have very recently had the pleasure of working with on my blog page, throughout the year.

Photo-shoots are fabulous of course, but as it is a photographer’s job to make everyone look their absolute best (sometimes with a little extra tweaking on the edit) and a model’s job to look gorgeous, it can be difficult to get a true representation of what a bridal hair and makeup artist really has to offer. I love sharing my real brides with you (no fancy photo shoots on these blogs, these are all just quick snaps taken by me on my I-pad!), as it allows you all to see how truly stunning my real brides are as they prepare themselves to walk down the aisle into newly wedded bliss![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1470741440021{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

How To Choose Your Wedding Dress

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1468150910851{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]There is so much to think about when planning your big day and what’s more, there’s so much that you need to think about in relation to each other. When you’re rifling through wedding day inspiration, pinning like mad and coming up with your dream theme, colour scheme and décor, remember that all of your choices will also have to reflect in your final wedding dress selection.

When you’re finally taking the plunge to choose your wedding dress, the pressure is on to get it just right – you do only get to wear one after all! Make sure that you give yourself plenty of time to browse different designers and styles and don’t forget that the average wedding dress takes around 6 months to make once you’ve found it, so you’ll probably want to start the hunt 8-10 months in advance.

With so many things to take into account, it can be tough to know where to start. Follow my top tips on wedding dress shopping to find out how to choose your wedding dress and know it’s the right one…[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_single_image image=”1725″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1468150966851{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]

Consider ALL factors

There are so many things that play a part in selecting the perfect wedding dress for your big day, some of which are not so obvious. As a bridal hair and makeup artist with over 20 years of experience, I have had the pleasure of working with hundreds (maybe thousands?!) of brides-to-be so I’ve heard just about all wedding dress dilemmas!

When you’re making your decision, here are 3 key points to think about:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1468151158232{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Wedding Dress Comfort

Yes, you want to look drop dead gorgeous, but whatever you do, don’t let that come at the expense of your comfort – you can have the best of both worlds! You want your day to be nothing but pure joy, and wearing a wedding dress that makes you feel uncomfortable in any sense (whether that’s down to restricted breathing, tripping up on long skirts, the feel of the material or wearing something that just isn’t really ‘you’) is one sure-fire way to put a downer on your wedding day.

Find a wedding dress that not only looks fabulous, but feels fabulous too.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1093″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1468151676777{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1468151139384{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

The Groom

I’m not just talking about finding a dress that your fiancé will think looks beautiful, you also need to factor it what he wants to wear (it’s his day too!) and almost more importantly, his height and stature. Shoes and hairstyle also play a big part here! If you and your groom don’t have much difference in height but you would both rather have him looking and feeling taller than you on your big day, then you might find a smaller dress works better. You should also consider his outfit – is he going to be wearing a suit? Or perhaps a kilt or other traditional dress?

To look your best together as you say your ‘I dos’, stay well coordinated in both colour and style.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1328″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1468151261100{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1468151194274{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Venue/Destination

Always settle on your venue or travel destination before making a final decision on your wedding dress. It may seem obvious to some, but it is so easy to get caught up in that dream wedding dress idea and end up going for something that, when it comes down to it, is totally inappropriate.

If you’ve always been dead-set on wearing a huge, ball gown wedding dress with a cathedral veil, then perhaps it’s time to say goodbye to getting married on a beach in the Maldives. Decide what is the most important aspect to you and go with that, but whatever you do, make sure that your dress is suitable for your venue, don’t try to make something work that in your heart you know won’t – trust your instincts![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1096″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1468151313309{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

I Woke Up This Gorgeous

Looking ‘made up’ isn’t for everyone – it’s becoming more and more commonplace for brides to want to have a more relaxed, boho feel to their finished hair and makeup look, with a tousled ‘I woke up this gorgeous’ finish, and I have to say, it does look fabulous!

Summer bridal hairstyles, and makeup too, often takes on a much more natural look (I guess the warm weather brings out the free-spirit in us girls!). This goes perfectly with lighter dresses, particularly in a more informal venue such as a beach, barn or festival wedding.

I recently created this beautiful, loose curl hairstyle with unraveling braid and vintage/boho accessories by Gillian Million for a photoshoot, showcasing some of the most popular summer bridal hairstyles.

This may look totally effortless and like it might all slip out of place at any moment to you, but I have put together this style in such a way that the incredibly discreet backcombing and securing techniques will hold this hairstyle in place as you dance away into the night!

High Bun

The High Bun is a surprisingly versatile style, and the ideal pick of the summer bridal hairstyles for those of you jetting off somewhere hot or hoping for a scorcher here in the UK. Keeping your hair up, off your neck and out of your face and go a long way in keeping you comfortable, particularly when the nerves start kicking in!

When looking at summer bridal hairstyles, there are many factors you must consider – Will it go with your dress? Will it fit in with your theme and/or venue? Will you feel happy and comfortable as well as gorgeous?

If you think the high bun is for you, you’ll be pleased to hear that this works well for almost all hair types – you will need long hair for it though, or consider using extensions for the perfect size and volume.

Will this style work for you?

  • Keep your cool! A great hairstyle for hot weather.
  • Thick, heavy hair? This style works perfectly for you.
  • Don’t quite have the length? Try American Dream hair extensions!

Tousled Up-do

Perfectly polished but not ‘done’, it’s been a popular style for years and it still looks just as wonderful now as it did when it first appeared on the seen – the tousled up-do is a definitely one to try for bride to be who want to look romantic, ethereal and totally chilled all at once!

For this style, I set the hair in rollers for lovely root boost, volume and gentle curls, before backcombing a little underneath for added height to fix in the elegant hair vine and pinning into a faux plait at the back, with lots of weaving and overlapping to make this style look really intricate and beautiful.

My bride here wore a lovely vintage inspired dress, but this is one of those summer bridal hairstyles that looks great match with a number of themes.

I particularly like this look with a boho or low back gown to help show off that gorgeous detail.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1857″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1462824278230{margin-top: 62px !important;margin-bottom: 62px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
