Wedding Day Trial Run: What To Expect

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1473092203320{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]As a bride to be, you’ll probably have heard the term ‘Trial Run’ when researching wedding hair and makeup artists but you might not be so familiar with what a trial run actually is.

When you’re deciding who to choose to do your all important wedding day hair and makeup, there’s no better way of find out if a bridal hair/makeup artist is for you than by spending some time with them and trying out some different looks.

I always insist on trial runs with my brides, as should every bridal hair and makeup artist. If you find one who doesn’t offer this or tell you that it’s a must, run a mile! The trial run is a key part of the process that all results in you having the perfect wedding day.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”1315″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1473092064741{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1473092230329{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

What is a Trial Run?

A trial run is when you meet with a bridal hair and makeup artist to find out if you’re compatible and to try and find a hair and makeup look that you absolutely adore. There are no strings attached when my clients come to me for their trial run, there is no obligation to book at all.

How Long is a Trial Run?

My trial runs have no time limit, just as long as it takes to find that special look, but as a rough guideline you should expect it to take at least 3 hours so we can try lots of different ideas together. However, this isn’t always the case with other hair and makeup artists, so it’s always best to check first.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”1679″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1473092016556{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1473091954570{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

What’s Included?

My trial runs always include both hair and makeup for a complete look – right down to the individual false lashes! We’ll have a good chat about all the things you love and all the things you don’t; if you’ve got some inspiration images we’ll go over those together too to try and establish what sort of thing you are drawn to.

As well as listening to all of your needs and trying out everything you want to have a go at, I will also offer my professional advice on what I think might work for you. You would be surprised at how many people end up choosing a look they never would have pictured! Sometimes you just have to try before you know. The final look will always be what you want though, and we’ll work together to find it.

What’s The Next Step?

Once your trial run is finished, there is no need to book there and then, although a lot of brides-to-be do like to put down their deposit for their wedding day hair and makeup right away to secure their date!

You can take your time deciding and get back to me whenever you’re ready, but the sooner the better to avoid your wedding day being booked up by someone else.

How To Choose Your Wedding Dress

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1468150910851{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]There is so much to think about when planning your big day and what’s more, there’s so much that you need to think about in relation to each other. When you’re rifling through wedding day inspiration, pinning like mad and coming up with your dream theme, colour scheme and décor, remember that all of your choices will also have to reflect in your final wedding dress selection.

When you’re finally taking the plunge to choose your wedding dress, the pressure is on to get it just right – you do only get to wear one after all! Make sure that you give yourself plenty of time to browse different designers and styles and don’t forget that the average wedding dress takes around 6 months to make once you’ve found it, so you’ll probably want to start the hunt 8-10 months in advance.

With so many things to take into account, it can be tough to know where to start. Follow my top tips on wedding dress shopping to find out how to choose your wedding dress and know it’s the right one…[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_single_image image=”1725″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1468150966851{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]

Consider ALL factors

There are so many things that play a part in selecting the perfect wedding dress for your big day, some of which are not so obvious. As a bridal hair and makeup artist with over 20 years of experience, I have had the pleasure of working with hundreds (maybe thousands?!) of brides-to-be so I’ve heard just about all wedding dress dilemmas!

When you’re making your decision, here are 3 key points to think about:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1468151158232{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Wedding Dress Comfort

Yes, you want to look drop dead gorgeous, but whatever you do, don’t let that come at the expense of your comfort – you can have the best of both worlds! You want your day to be nothing but pure joy, and wearing a wedding dress that makes you feel uncomfortable in any sense (whether that’s down to restricted breathing, tripping up on long skirts, the feel of the material or wearing something that just isn’t really ‘you’) is one sure-fire way to put a downer on your wedding day.

Find a wedding dress that not only looks fabulous, but feels fabulous too.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1093″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1468151676777{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1468151139384{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

The Groom

I’m not just talking about finding a dress that your fiancé will think looks beautiful, you also need to factor it what he wants to wear (it’s his day too!) and almost more importantly, his height and stature. Shoes and hairstyle also play a big part here! If you and your groom don’t have much difference in height but you would both rather have him looking and feeling taller than you on your big day, then you might find a smaller dress works better. You should also consider his outfit – is he going to be wearing a suit? Or perhaps a kilt or other traditional dress?

To look your best together as you say your ‘I dos’, stay well coordinated in both colour and style.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1328″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1468151261100{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1468151194274{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Venue/Destination

Always settle on your venue or travel destination before making a final decision on your wedding dress. It may seem obvious to some, but it is so easy to get caught up in that dream wedding dress idea and end up going for something that, when it comes down to it, is totally inappropriate.

If you’ve always been dead-set on wearing a huge, ball gown wedding dress with a cathedral veil, then perhaps it’s time to say goodbye to getting married on a beach in the Maldives. Decide what is the most important aspect to you and go with that, but whatever you do, make sure that your dress is suitable for your venue, don’t try to make something work that in your heart you know won’t – trust your instincts![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1096″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1468151313309{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

I Woke Up This Gorgeous

Looking ‘made up’ isn’t for everyone – it’s becoming more and more commonplace for brides to want to have a more relaxed, boho feel to their finished hair and makeup look, with a tousled ‘I woke up this gorgeous’ finish, and I have to say, it does look fabulous!

Summer bridal hairstyles, and makeup too, often takes on a much more natural look (I guess the warm weather brings out the free-spirit in us girls!). This goes perfectly with lighter dresses, particularly in a more informal venue such as a beach, barn or festival wedding.

I recently created this beautiful, loose curl hairstyle with unraveling braid and vintage/boho accessories by Gillian Million for a photoshoot, showcasing some of the most popular summer bridal hairstyles.

This may look totally effortless and like it might all slip out of place at any moment to you, but I have put together this style in such a way that the incredibly discreet backcombing and securing techniques will hold this hairstyle in place as you dance away into the night!

High Bun

The High Bun is a surprisingly versatile style, and the ideal pick of the summer bridal hairstyles for those of you jetting off somewhere hot or hoping for a scorcher here in the UK. Keeping your hair up, off your neck and out of your face and go a long way in keeping you comfortable, particularly when the nerves start kicking in!

When looking at summer bridal hairstyles, there are many factors you must consider – Will it go with your dress? Will it fit in with your theme and/or venue? Will you feel happy and comfortable as well as gorgeous?

If you think the high bun is for you, you’ll be pleased to hear that this works well for almost all hair types – you will need long hair for it though, or consider using extensions for the perfect size and volume.

Will this style work for you?

  • Keep your cool! A great hairstyle for hot weather.
  • Thick, heavy hair? This style works perfectly for you.
  • Don’t quite have the length? Try American Dream hair extensions!

Tousled Up-do

Perfectly polished but not ‘done’, it’s been a popular style for years and it still looks just as wonderful now as it did when it first appeared on the seen – the tousled up-do is a definitely one to try for bride to be who want to look romantic, ethereal and totally chilled all at once!

For this style, I set the hair in rollers for lovely root boost, volume and gentle curls, before backcombing a little underneath for added height to fix in the elegant hair vine and pinning into a faux plait at the back, with lots of weaving and overlapping to make this style look really intricate and beautiful.

My bride here wore a lovely vintage inspired dress, but this is one of those summer bridal hairstyles that looks great match with a number of themes.

I particularly like this look with a boho or low back gown to help show off that gorgeous detail.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1857″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1462824278230{margin-top: 62px !important;margin-bottom: 62px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Bridal Makeup: Mature Bride

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1453997044302{margin-top: 62px !important;margin-bottom: 62px !important;}”]A lot of women are getting married later in life these days, and some of my favourite bridal makeup looks have been on my more mature brides.

Being a little older doesn’t mean you can’t look just as gorgeous as you did in your 20s, as long you (or your bridal makeup artist) know the subtle adjustments to make in terms of products used and technique.

If you’re 40+ and getting married, it is essential that you go with a makeup artist who know’s their stuff when it comes to creating gorgeous makeup for mature brides, or if you’re thinking of doing your own makeup, make sure you know all the tips and tricks of the pros for a flawless finish!

As we age, our skin and hair texture starts to change, and applying makeup to this sort of surface is very different to what you may already know

To learn how to apply your own bridal makeup beautifully, you can always attend our 1 day makeover masterclass, where you can discover fabulous looks that work for you with our team of pro hair and makeup artists, but to keep you going before you can join us there, here are some top tips on working with mature bridal makeup from award-winning Pam Wrigley:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”” margin_top=”0″ padding_left=”0″ padding_right=”0″ type=”1″ bg_position=”top” bg_repeat=”no-repeat” bg_cover=”true” bg_attachment=”false” padding_top=”0″ padding_bottom=”0″ enable_parallax=”” parallax_speed=”0.1″ bg_type=”no_bg” bg_grad=”background: -webkit-gradient(linear, left top, left bottom, color-stop(0%, #E3E3E3));background: -moz-linear-gradient(top,#E3E3E3 0%);background: -webkit-linear-gradient(top,#E3E3E3 0%);background: -o-linear-gradient(top,#E3E3E3 0%);background: -ms-linear-gradient(top,#E3E3E3 0%);background: linear-gradient(top,#E3E3E3 0%);” parallax_style=”vcpb-default” bg_image_repeat=”repeat” bg_image_size=”cover” bg_img_attach=”scroll” parallax_sense=”30″ animation_direction=”left-animation” animation_repeat=”repeat” video_opts=”” viewport_vdo=”off” enable_controls=”off” bg_override=”0″ parallax_content_sense=”30″ fadeout_start_effect=”30″ overlay_pattern_opacity=”80″ overlay_pattern_attachment=”fixed” multi_color_overlay=”” multi_color_overlay_opacity=”60″ seperator_type=”none_seperator” seperator_position=”top_seperator” seperator_shape_size=”40″ seperator_svg_height=”60″ seperator_shape_background=”#ffffff” seperator_shape_border=”none” seperator_shape_border_width=”1″ icon_type=”no_icon” icon_size=”32″ icon_style=”none” icon_color_border=”#333333″ icon_border_size=”1″ icon_border_radius=”500″ icon_border_spacing=”50″ img_width=”48″ ult_hide_row_large_screen=”off” ult_hide_row_desktop=”off” ult_hide_row_tablet=”off” ult_hide_row_tablet_small=”off” ult_hide_row_mobile=”off” ult_hide_row_mobile_large=”off” margin_bottom=”0″ bg_image=”/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/BACKGROUND-cbh2.jpg”][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1746″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1453991966192{margin-top: 62px !important;margin-bottom: 62px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1453992973920{margin-top: 62px !important;margin-bottom: 62px !important;}”]

Skin

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1453996573277{margin-top: 62px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]When starting with your bridal makeup base, remember that mature skin may have a tendency to be quite a bit more dry than what you’re used to.

To combat this and ensure a flawless finish, be sure to start with a lovely hydrating primer to prepare the skin. Do not skip this step, whatever you do!!

Using a hydrating primer will not only help to create a more even and supple base to work with, but it will also help to minimise pores and fine lines, which no-one wants to see when they get their wedding photos back![/vc_column_text][bsf-info-box icon_type=”selector” icon=”Defaults-star” img_width=”48″ icon_size=”32″ icon_color=”#333333″ icon_style=”none” icon_color_bg=”#ffffff” icon_color_border=”#333333″ icon_border_size=”1″ icon_border_radius=”500″ icon_border_spacing=”50″ read_more=”none” read_text=”Read More” hover_effect=”style_1″ pos=”left”]

Pam’s favourite primer for mature brides is the Laura Mercier Hydrating Primer.

[/bsf-info-box][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1453996067940{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Go light on the foundation if you can – thick bridal makeup will only lend to deeper creases and lines. To better your chances of getting good coverage with as little product as possible, make sure you’re using really high quality foundation or tinted moisturiser, with lots of pigment, for smooth, even coverage.

[/vc_column_text][bsf-info-box icon_type=”selector” icon=”Defaults-star” img_width=”48″ icon_size=”32″ icon_color=”#333333″ icon_style=”none” icon_color_bg=”#ffffff” icon_color_border=”#333333″ icon_border_size=”1″ icon_border_radius=”500″ icon_border_spacing=”50″ read_more=”none” read_text=”Read More” hover_effect=”style_1″ pos=”left”]

Pam’s favourite foundation when working with a mature bride is Cosmetics A La Carte – Skin Tint.

[/bsf-info-box][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1453993301225{margin-top: 62px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Under The Eye

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1453996538696{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]Be very careful when working on the eye area – the skin here, particularly under the eye, can be very delicate and sometimes quite creased.

For coverage, choose something very light (even lighter than the skin tint mentioned above!). You want something that does the job and creates luminosity, without looking caked on.[/vc_column_text][bsf-info-box icon_type=”selector” icon=”Defaults-star” img_width=”48″ icon_size=”32″ icon_color=”#333333″ icon_style=”none” icon_color_bg=”#ffffff” icon_color_border=”#333333″ icon_border_size=”1″ icon_border_radius=”500″ icon_border_spacing=”50″ read_more=”none” read_text=”Read More” hover_effect=”style_1″ pos=”left”]

Pam’s favourite under-eye coverage for mature brides is YSL Touche Eclat or By Terry Touch Expert

[/bsf-info-box][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1453993125067{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

For lining under the eye, avoid using eye pencils as these do tend to get into the creases and smudge. Instead, opt for an angled brush and a dark eye-shadow to create the required ‘oomph’!

[/vc_column_text][bsf-info-box icon_type=”selector” icon=”Defaults-star” img_width=”48″ icon_size=”32″ icon_color=”#333333″ icon_style=”none” icon_color_bg=”#ffffff” icon_color_border=”#333333″ icon_border_size=”1″ icon_border_radius=”500″ icon_border_spacing=”50″ read_more=”none” read_text=”Read More” hover_effect=”style_1″ pos=”left”]

Pam’s favourite brush for this is the Screenface Angled Brow Brush

Eyeshadow/Eyeliner

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1453996433980{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Begin by using a light primer on your eyelids, to help reduce that ‘crepey’ look. Don’t use a regular eye primer for your bridal makeup (such as MAC paintpots, which Pam likes to use on her younger brides), as this can be too heavy and give the eyes a droopy look. Instead go for something nice and light.

[/vc_column_text][bsf-info-box icon_type=”selector” icon=”Defaults-star” img_width=”48″ icon_size=”32″ icon_color=”#333333″ icon_style=”none” icon_color_bg=”#ffffff” icon_color_border=”#333333″ icon_border_size=”1″ icon_border_radius=”500″ icon_border_spacing=”50″ read_more=”none” read_text=”Read More” hover_effect=”style_1″ pos=”left”]

Pam’s favourite light primer for a mature bride is Ingot Eyeshadow Keeper.

[/bsf-info-box][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1453994542374{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Always use powder eyeshadow rather than cream, as they last longer and won’t settle into the creases. Gentle shimmer shadows can work well for bridal makeup, but avoid too much glitter as this will just emphasise lines.

[/vc_column_text][bsf-info-box icon_type=”selector” icon=”Defaults-star” img_width=”48″ icon_size=”32″ icon_color=”#333333″ icon_style=”none” icon_color_bg=”#ffffff” icon_color_border=”#333333″ icon_border_size=”1″ icon_border_radius=”500″ icon_border_spacing=”50″ read_more=”none” read_text=”Read More” hover_effect=”style_1″ pos=”left”]

Pam says “Sometimes I start with a matte eyeshadow to get the shading and highlights just right and then I add a touch of colour with a slight shimmer on top (just in the inner and centre eye lid and a touch below the brow) – this gives a bit of freshness to the finished look!”

[/bsf-info-box][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1453994616468{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 62px !important;}”]

When applying eyeliner, avoid harsh clean lines – keep them looking soft and subtle instead. By all means, use a liquid or gel liner for precision, but not too thick! Once applied, soften it by applying a smudge of a dark eyeshadow on top and blend out with a soft angled brow brush.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1453994739962{margin-top: 62px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Lips & Lashes

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1453994705486{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

When it come to doing the lips, it’s always personal choice whatever your age! However, for mature brides try to avoid glosses or anything too matte.
Ideally, you want a soft moist look to the lip, but nothing too over the top.

Lashes get thinner as we age, however, using a thickening mascara to beat this will only end up looking clumpy. Use a fine mascara and build it up in layers for that gorgeous, fluttering volume.

False lashes are always a winner when it comes to adding those finishing touches, however, avoid strip lashes as they look far too fake! When you’re going for fabulous, effortless looking glamour that looks like we haven’t tried too hard(!) try using individual lashes – You can use different lengths for a really natural look.

Pam likes to use the Salon System Individual Lashes, as they come in a great variety of lengths to enable you to create the perfect look. Try combining Ultra medium, short and ultra short along the eye for full on gorgeousness or if you have shorter lashes, just try the short and ultra short for a natural look.

When creating beautiful brows you may find powders easier to control than pencils, to get just the right amount of colour without going too heavy.
With mature brides, brows should only be gently defined and not too dark – just enough to frame the face.
You might have thin brows that you love, and that’s OK! You bridal makeup is about what is right for you after all, so keep them that way and just add a bit of definition.

Having your makeup done by someone else doesn’t mean you won’t look like *you*, so long as your MUA knows what she/he is doing! The aim of the game is to look your very best, whilst feel comfortable and confident. False lashes always looks fabulous, but I would always work with individual lashes rather than strip lashes, for a full but still natural look…

Art Deco Vintage Bridal Hair & Makeup: Bride & Mother of the Bride

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Vintage bridal hair & makeup is so diverse and never goes out of fashion – there are so many eras with such elegant, classic looks to play with and today’s modern bride can even work with her stylist to take the best bits of her favourite vintage bridal hair & makeup looks and turn it into something truly unique.

Vintage bridal hair & makeup is one of my favourite styles to work with on my clients, it’s so much fun! I adore this 1920s/1930s style wedding dress that one of my brides this year wore. We worked hard on her trial day to find a vintage bridal hair & makeup look that worked for her and made her feel beautiful. We decided upon this gorgeous low bun style, structured and the back and a little looser at the front for a really romantic edge.

Teamed with a stunning vintage bridal hair accessory and quite natural looking makeup with eyes that pop, this vintage bridal hair & makeup look was absolutely perfect![/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”32px”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1417″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1418″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space height=”32px”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]From the back of this stunning vintage bridal hair style you can see all of the intricate detail I included to make this look really something special.

This style is a wonderful match for the bridal gown as well, drawing the eye down towards that lovely detail at the back, but adding the the overall effect rather than taking anything away from it.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”32px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

For the Mother of the Bride, we went for a similarly structured low bun but with just a little less fanciful detail. Again, we have gone for the softer front with a neater back and some height on the crown for added elegance.

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”32px”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1416″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_empty_space height=”32px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1415″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

I think that this hair & makeup style is gorgeous. This mother of the bride style would also work just as well for a mature bride and just goes to show that you can look absolutely stunning for your big day, whatever your age

Jessica Biel Bridal Makeup Inspiration

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Jessica Biel’s look was a hit at the Cannes Film Festival back in 2013 and it is no surprise why. It is perfect for brides to be to recreate on their big day, particularly as it suits so many different skin tones. This natural dewy look is easy to do, just take a look at our step by step guide.

Step one:

Ideally you should use a HD makeup for your base as you will obviously be photographed a lot and it will give you the best results. Take liquid, fine textured foundation and apply with a brush all the way down onto your neck and chest if your dress has a low front. This will even out your skin tone, just make sure that you blend well.

Step two:

Take a crème blush and apply this to the apples of your cheeks for a healthy looking glow.

Step three:

Prep your eye lids with a primer and then sweep over with a mink shade. Select a plum colour and blend this into the outer corner of your lid to give definition. Blend these two colours together and use this to line under the bottom lashes, adding a touch of the plum to the outer corner again. Sweep over the lid with a rose shade and then add a wash of highlighter to your brow bone.

Step four:

Now you can apply your concealer. It is better to apply this after eye shadow in case and has dropped from the lid to underneath your eye. Your foundation will also have sun in so you will be able to easily spot any areas that need concealing. Next, dust over with powder for a velvet look.
Step five: Take your black waterproof eyeliner and work it into the base of your eyelashes. Make sure that you thicken the line out at the outer corner of your eye. Now you can curl your lashes and apply your waterproof mascara. If necessary you can also apply individual lashes to thicken them out.

Step six:

There is no place for cracked lips so to make sure that they are lovely and smooth rub a cotton bud or toothbrush over them. Use a brown lip liner to stain all over your lips and then finish off with a pinky nude lipstick.

Get the bridal look: Poppy Delevingne – Beautiful Bridal Hair & Makeup

We have taken to the archives again for this week’s bridal look. Back in May 2014 Poppy Delevingne married her long time partner James Cook at St Paul’s Church in Knightsbridge. It was no surprise that the naturally beautiful bride looked stunning, and she chose to wear a custom made Chanel Haute Couture dress.

This style is perfect for those who have gone for a vintage style dress or one that has heavy embellishment, a high neck, or is strapless as these will complement the understated look. It will suit anyone as long as they have enough length to their hair as the wavy style will catch the light giving hair a glossy shine and show off its colour. It will look particularly good on brides with a square or round shape as it will soften your features. Naturally curly hair will hold the shape well, as will fine hair.

How to get the look

Step one:

Wash hair using a volumising shampoo and condition well. Create a good foundation by applying a strong hold mousse and then blow dry using a round brush so that you can generate extra volume and movement.

Step two:

Allow hair to part on your preferred side. Take a curling iron with a medium sized barrel and curl one inch sections, winding hair around the barrel the same way each time until you have curled your whole head.

Step three:

Leave the curls to cool completely before you touch them. Once cool you can then gently brush through your hair so that it forms full waves all the way around your head. Brushing will also cause the tightness in the curls to relax.

Step four:

Mist all over your hair with light hairspray to hold the shape but still allow some movement.
