Natural Bridal Makeup

Natural Bridal Makeup

Natural bridal makeup on your wedding day will enhance your features and bring out your natural beauty. So, whether you are a young or mature bride, you’ll be able to blow him away when he sees you walk in the room.

With today’s Instagram images fuelling the trend for strong brows and equally strong contouring you might feel a bit intimidated if you’re a ‘no makeup’ kinda girl.

There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to makeup, on your wedding day you can have your makeup as strong or as natural as you like.

Your makeup does not have to be heavy for the photographs.

The most important thing is that you feel comfortable, confident and gorgeous on your big day.

Exactly how ‘natural’ you go for your wedding day makeup will depend on a number of different factors, all detailed below.

Natural makeup on your wedding day

Day time or evening wedding?

You can get away with a bit more makeup for an evening wedding – and you can still look really natural.

Summer or Winter wedding?

The days are so much shorter in the winter, and the light quite cold, even on a sunny winters day, so you’ll need a touch more makeup than you might think – just to look healthy and glowing!

Black tie affair in a Mayfair Hotel or Festval themed wedding in a barn?

You can definitely carry off a natural wedding makeup for either event, but the makeup would need to be tailored to fit you, your dress, the time of day and the lighting in the venue.

There is no need to look or feel like someone else on your big day

Whatever the time of day, type of venue or time of year be the ‘best version of you’ on your wedding day, with a natural, gorgeous makeup.

Natural Wedding Makeup Fabulous Eyes

Natural makeup depends on the subtle play of colours and tones, applied in just the right balance. The emphasis can be on the lips, but more usually it will be on the eyes.

Wedding makeup isn’t about just looking good on camera.

Your makeup doesn’t have to be heavy to look gorgeous on your wedding day.

On the wedding day the focus will be on you, you’ll be in a lot of photographs on your big day, however, you don’t have to have a heavy makeup to look good in photos.

It’s all about balance, it is important that your makeup looks good when people look at you close up.

Soft browns, neutral greys, even soft greens such as Lichen by cosmetics a la carte can be perfect for contouring and defining the eye.

A touch of shimmer on the eye lid can be pretty, for either a summer or winter wedding.

Lashes can be key when it comes to making a natural eye pop. I love using individual lashes – to give a little bit je ne sais qua.

The impression we want is that your eyes look gorgeous but the onlooker isn’t sure why.

Bridal makeup: the Base.

Choose your primer to suit your skin type, oily, dry or combination.

Next step is to even out your skin tone, try a lovely light tinted moisturiser e.g. a la carte Radiance Tinted Moisturiser

Cream or powder blush both work equally well, the skill is in the application.

It is important that your natural makeup stays looking good all day, so I would still advise a light dusting of powder such as Mac Prep & Prime.

Brows can be natural, but a touch of definition will help to frame your features. I find brow powders a bit easier to control when applying than brow pencils, best to start off with less definition and build up slowly.

Natural Bridal makeup, the trial run.

It can take more skill to apply beautiful natural makeup than dark, smokey wedding makeup.

To make sure you are happy with your natural makeup I would recommend organising your trial run during the day rather than in the evening. Artificial light in our homes is usually yellow and combined with the colour of your walls will affect the way your makeup looks. It’s always best to do the trial in natural light, so you can see how your makeup really looks.

The majority of my brides wear white or ivory dresses, not a colour we’re used to wearing every day, so you may need a hint more makeup than you would normally wear, just to make sure that you don’t get lost.

After all, we want the attention to be on you and not just on your dress.

Wedding Hairstyle Ideas

Hairstyle Ideas for your big day

This page is dedicated to wedding hairstyle ideas, so I can offer you a little bit of inspiration for your big day.

Whatever the length of your hair you’ll be able to find the perfect wedding day hairstyle.

And, although there are lots of style ideas and inspiration to be had on Instagram, finding a hairstyle that will be right for you on your wedding day is another story altogether.

wedding hair trial run

That’s where the trial run comes into its own. I always suggest my brides do a bit of research in advance of the trial, that way you can start to narrow down your style ideas a bit.

Having a few images to look at on the trial will also be really helpful for me as well. Because I will get a rough idea of the sort of wedding hairstyles that you like.

Your wedding hairstyle ideas may vary widely, and that’s no problem.

Don’t worry, it will help me to get a feel for you and the sort of looks that you might potentially go for.

Having said that, the images are just a starting point. When choosing the right hairstyle we’ll also need to consider your dress, jewellery, hair accessories and your venue.

So, there are lots of things to consider before I even put a comb through your hair.

wedding natural vintage bridal make-up low bun hairstyle Pam Wrigley Sussex

clean or dirty hair

It is a myth that dirty hair is better to work with when it comes to creating wedding day hair styles.

Well, I suppose it depends on your definition of dirty.

Perhaps it’s better to say greasy hair is never good to put up!

I usually recommend my brides arrive for their trial run with clean, dry hair.

You can either wash your hair the day before the bridal trial or if your hair gets greasy easily you can wash it on the morning of the trial run.

One point to note however, I always ask my brides not to use any leave-in products, deep conditioners or serum.

Certain leave-in products can make the hair super soft and slippery, as a result, they can be a bridal hairstylists nightmare!

Curly hair brides can, however, disregard this rule!

Because the rules regarding leave-in products do not apply if you have naturally curly hair.

The starting point is always slightly different when coming up with wedding hairstyle ideas for naturally curly hair, and it will be different for each curly hair bride.

Please get in touch to discuss your individual curl requirements!

Bridal Hairstyles for Short Hair

Bridal hairstyles for short hair

bridal hair styles and wedding hairstyle and mother of the bride hair and makeup by Pam Wrigley at Hedsor House

Bridal Hair styles for Short Hair

When it comes to choosing bridal hairstyles for short hair you might be surprised just how much choice is available.

Over the last 25 years working as a bridal hairstylist I’ve created beautiful wedding hair styles for many brides. And I have worked with all different hair lengths and hair types.

And short hair, whether it’s straight or naturally curly, can be surprisingly versatile. What’s more, you won’t have use hair extensions, unless you want to.

short, gorgeous, healthy Hair

Keep your hair in tip-top condition on the run-up to the wedding, with regular visits to your hairdresser for a trim. Always use good quality shampoo and conditioner. I love Sexy Hair products, because whilst they leave the hair residue-free, they are still nourishing for the hair.

If you have a colour on your hair it is particularly important to use a heat protector, to make sure you keep your locks looking glossy and gorgeous on the wedding day.

I love Silhouette Style & Care Lotion and use it before I style the hair as a heat protector, and also as a finishing product to banish flyaways and give the hair a gorgeous glossy finish.

Wedding Hairstyles for Short Hair

You’ll be presently surprised at just how much choice is out there, once you start looking for wedding hairstyles for short hair.

So, if you’d like your hair up, a messy or neat bun, half-up style, beachy waves or a vintage wedding hair style al la Audrey Hepburn, you might be surprised at what you can achieve with your wedding hairstyle.

When your choosing a wedding hair style there are a number of things to consider, not just the length of your hair and your face shape.

The venue, your wedding dress and choice of hair accessories also need to be factored in when it comes to choosing the right wedding hairstyle.

Bridal Hair Styles for short hair

The wedding venue.

When looking at wedding hairstyles for short hair there are as many options as there are brides with short hair!

Think about your venue, if you are keeping your wedding low key, with a civil ceremony in your local registry office or you’re opting for black tie event in a Mayfair hotel it’s your big day and your moment to shine.

So, whether you have chosen a simple chic wedding dress of something more extravagant, you don’t really want your dress to be the main feature of the day.

It’s all about you, so make sure your wedding day hairstyle looks fabulous too!

Bridal hair styles for short hair

If you have a fabulous pixie cut or the perfect short bob – a blow dry might be the best option for your wedding day hairstyle.

Alternatively, you can opt for a beachy wave to give your wedding day hairstyle for short hair with a bit of a twist.

curl the hair & keep the length

The beachy wave is a great way to give your short hair volume and movement on your wedding day.

And, because this curl can be created on even a short bob, it is definitely one of the styles you can add to your list of potential bridal hairstyles for short hair.

What’s more, the beachy wave look is easily achieved but best to try it out when you have a trial run, just to make sure!

Less is more with the beachy wave bridal hairstyle, so have a chat with your hairstylist to make sure your short hair doesn’t look over-styled.

bridal hairstyle low bun with extensions wedding day hair style by Pam Wrigley

Bridal hairstyles for short hair – working with extensions

If you have difficulty getting your short hair to grow long enough to get the bridal hair style of your dreams, don’t worry.

Hair extensions are the perfect option if you’re running out of time or if your hair refuses to grow.

So, if your hair is a little shorter than you would like, you can still have the wedding hairstyle of your dreams.

Clip-in extensions for short hair

You can use as many, or a few hair extensions as you like in order to achieve your desired bridal hairstyle.

So, having a few clip-in extensions to hand for your bridal hairstylist will mean they’ll be able to be a bit more creative when it comes to conjuring up wedding day hairstyles for short hair.

The downside to hair extensions is that you absolutely cannot wing it! Getting it wrong can lead to some big hair disasters and that is the last thing you want.

Hair extensions are a great addition to any bridal hairstylist’s kit but knowing how to use them (and use them well) is a must.

Whilst they can be fantastic for adding much-needed volume and length to finer hair or for secretly cheating hairstyles with multiple braid layers.

Remember Emilia Clarke in Game of Thrones – how could we forget!

However, hair extensions they will only work well if your wedding hairstylist knows how to handle them.

Visible hair extensions, loose hair extensions or mismatched hair extensions are a bride’s nightmare.

Just remember, whether you opt to use hair extensions of not, it is definitely more than possible to create beautiful wedding hairstyles on short hair!

Autumn Wedding Inspiration: Bridal Hair, Bridal Makeup, Décor, Dress and More!

AUTUMN WEDDING INSPIRATION: BRIDAL HAIR, BRIDAL MAKEUP, DÉCOR, DRESS AND MORE!

An autumn wedding is always so magical. The crisp buzzing of the changing seasons in the air make everything even more exciting and that perfect blend of clear, sunny days and just the beginnings of a wintery chill allows for all your favourite aspects of summer and winter weddings combined. You can still get away with serving Pimms and a bright colour scheme, but at the same time a roaring fire, hot toddies and luxurious furry stole to top off your wedding dress in the evening is totally fitting.

Another wonderful thing about an autumn wedding is the choice of seasonal themes. You could tap into the spirit of harvest with huge sharing bowls of hearty food for your guests to tuck into and enjoy. You can bring the outside world in, and decorate with nature’s firey hues of reds, golds, oranges, hot pinks and earthy browns. Bonfire night is a lovely celebration to tie in and you could even give a nod to Halloween, with pumpkin displays and toffee apples in abundance!

There is so much to play with when planning an autumn wedding. If you’re searching for top tips and inspiration, look no further…

COLOUR SCHEMES

Nature offers such a rich and vibrant array of colours in the autumn months and so it only makes sense to take our cues from this. But if the orange, red and brown tones aren’t for you, don’t make the mistake in thinking you’re all out of autumnal options. There’s far more to it than this.

Pantone is the authority of what’s hot in terms of colour schemes for pretty much everything: fashion, interiors, hair colour and of course, weddings. 2018 was all about ultra-violet, but autumn/winter 2018 heading in 2019 is welcoming an incredible range of striking shades that offer so much scope for a bang on-trend wedding colour palette.

Seen on the fashion week runways all over the world, the new hot-to-trot colours have been described as zesty, vigorous and romantic. Sounds pretty perfect for a bride’s big day!

First up, ‘Red Pear’. This is a deep, wine toned red verging of burgundy which makes a wonderful grounding undertone to many colour schemes. Bright enough for a subtle pop, but subdued enough to create an accent without over-powering. ‘Valiant Poppy’ is the loud, red sister colour. An amazing lipstick shade too! Ideal for creating continuity between your look and your wedding décor. Feminine pinks and purples are all the rage too, for those of you wanting something really soft and girly instead.

Lending to the whole natural vibe ‘Martini Olive’ green is an amazing addition to many different palettes. Pair with peach, white and gold for something fresh; Deep purple, navy and gold for decadence or team up with a lighter sage, gold, ivory and rich brown for a combo that works year-round.

Yellow is another colour that is really coming into it’s own right now, particularly when put with an elegant grey or beige and a bold magenta.

AUTUMNAL BLOOMS

Just like food, seasonal is always best when it comes to wedding flowers, but of course everything is available! If you love the idea of crating floral displays that fit beautifully with the season, take a look at these gorgeous bouquet ideas from The Natural Wedding Company

BRIDAL BEAUTY

When it comes to bridal makeup, an autumn wedding makes way for neutral smoky eyes, lightly bronzed contours, deeply coloured lips and a hint of gold! There are so many fun ways to play with makeup to tie in seasonally.

LIPS

During summer months we see a lot of fresh lip colours and barely there tints, but as we head into autumn and winter approaches, it’s time to start playing with some of those gorgeous deeper shades again!

A slightly sheer plum is a bridal favourite of A/W 18 going into 2019 and of course, the timeless Hollywood red pout always has its place. If you’ve got the right complexion for it (red heads and warm brunettes – this one’s for you!) play around with some orange undertones.

EYES

Autumn eyes tend to go one of two ways – smoky or nude! This year’s smoky grey and smoky beige eyes are a big hit for autumn brides, but if you’re going for a really strong lip you could always try going lighter on the eyes – a subtle gloss on the lid, a precise cat eye flick and sky-high lashes (with a bit of help from false individuals set in!).

CHEEKS

A healthy glow is a must! But whether you go for a fresh-faced pop or sculpted cheekbones (or maybe a bit of both) is up to you.

Pale skin looks fabulous kept really clear with a pink flush, just like on a brisk winter’s day. For warmer skin tones, it’s all about the bronzed contouring – but easy does it! We still want this looking quite natural, not overdone.

BROWS

Autumn begs for a strong brow to frame the face, but eyebrows are such a personal thing, so go with what you love. Whatever look you decide on though, well-groomed and defined is essential!

AMAZING PHOTOS

Autumn wedding photography has got to be some of the best out there and it’s all because of the natural light. Summer days can be so bright it’s hard to take a great photo. Winter can be a little grey. But autumn – autumn offers that exceptional, hazy, golden quality of light as the sun starts to set that is hard to beat. If you love those images of wedded couple in diffuse, warm light, you’ll be thrilled to read that you’re very likely to get that if your big day is during autumn months! Take a look at some expert tips on how to look amazing in your wedding photos on our blog, here.

AUTUMN WEDDING DRESS

When choosing your dress for your autumn wedding, remember that you’re likely going to need a little cover up on your arms for when it turns chilly. This doesn’t mean you have to go for a dress with sleeves (although this is the perfect opportunity to do that, if you find one you love!) – you can opt for an elegant stole, wrap or shrug to keep the cold at bay. Whatever you do, don’t only choose looks over comfort. You can have the best of both worlds and no brides wants to be shivering on her wedding day!

An autumn wedding also allows for wearing bigger, heavier dresses without running the risk of overheating, so if you love the idea of something really grand, go for it!

THE PERFECT VENUE

Most venues are able to be kitted out for all seasons, but it’s worth remembering that you might need to consider heating options if you’re going for an outdoor wedding or a really rustic castle. Old castles and churches can get very cold, so find out if you can get a roaring log fire going, adding warmth and ambiance or if there are other heating solutions available.

Don’t be put off a barn wedding. Although you might imagine this to be better suited to a summer wedding, barn venues can often be really toasty and cosy! You’ll probably be choosing your venue in a different season to your autumn wedding, so when visiting to check it out, remember to ask about heating and how it might feel on your date. Many venues can sort out a fire for you (some even offer fire pits outside) and there are other alternatives too, like heating lamps, if need be.

LITTLE EXTRAS

Get inspired by different cultures around the world! Autumn is an important season in Japan and so many of their traditional food, clothes and décor give a nod to this. A little autumnal Japanese addition you might like to include in your meal (or perhaps as an unusual wedding favour) is a delicious red maple leaf fried with sugar and salt. Yum!

Having some ‘plan B’ solutions to hand is a good idea for month’s that can be a bit rainy (so, pretty much all year round in the UK!). Make sure you have some wellies and umbrellas for really cute outside photos, whatever the weather.

Summer is almost here, which means wedding season is upon us!

For any bride, when thinking about your summer wedding hair and make-up you want to feel comfortable, whilst still feeling super confident. You want to find hair and make-up true to your natural style and that fits the vibe of your wedding, but you also want to feel like a goddess! If you’re feeling confident, it’ll shine through and make you look and feel even more beautiful.

It’s always fun to experiment, but leave that to the pros at your Wedding Hair & Makeup Trial Run! This way, you’re sure to find the perfect look (maybe one you would never have originally thought of!) that makes you feel like the best version of yourself and that will work in those all-important wedding photos too.

There’s all sorts to take into consideration when choosing your summer wedding hair and makeup, aside from your personal preference. You need to think about where you’re getting married, details of the dress you want to show off, features your want to flaunt and those you don’t. Remember, all eyes will be on you![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3076″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1528648655689{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Boho Braids

A wedding classic! Boho braids are perfect for a summer wedding. They’ll keep you feeling cool on a warm wedding day whilst looking effortlessly chic.

Braids suit all hair types – long, short, straight or curly. You can keep them loose and romantic or give them slightly more structure and edge.

Deconstructed plaits are a popular choice with summer brides this year and adding flowers and other adornments can really give a seemingly simple style that extra something. The added bonus of braids is that when you take them out the end of the day, you’re left with gorgeous waves for the day after! Spritz with a salt spray like Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray and you’ll be good to go.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1528648776882{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

High Buns & Top Knots

If you’re getting married in the midst of summer and are worried about overheating, a top knot or high bun is the perfect solution. You can choose something elegant and neat, or relaxed and messy – whatever fits in with how you want to look on your big day.

Top knots high on your head are an excellent choice if you have a backless dress or back detail you want to show off. They can also add height and can help lengthen your neck, making them super flattering. Add plaits or flowers for something extra or keep it simple and let the dress do all the talking![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3077″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1528654600496{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1528648890325{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Relaxed Up-do

For a hazy, summer wedding, a relaxed up-do is a great choice. Despite it’s easy appearance, finding a highly skilled hairstylist is essential for this sort of style, as the loose, effortless look can fall down very easily if not secured correctly! Just like Meghan Markle on her wedding day, if you love the idea of a few delicate pieces falling for added charm throughout the day, a pro will know how to do this deliberately rather than by accident!

Keep your loose up-do all natural or add real flowers for a sumptuous, summery touch.

This sort of bridal style is so versatile, with the option to go for true messy or a slightly neater version, whilst maintaining the relaxed feel.

If you’re planning a bohemian inspired wedding, this is the style for you. Curly, straight, short, long – a few cleverly placed pins will have you looking effortlessly elegant.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1528648942336{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Curls & Waves

If you love wearing your hair down, you’re probably not going to feel comfortable with all your hair styled into an up-do, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still have a beautiful wedding hairstyle.

Loose curls keep you looking natural and romantic – the ideal look for a relaxed summer wedding. Or how about defined Hollywood waves for a dreamy polished look fit for the red carpet?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”2167″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1528655142212{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”2104″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1528654445463{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1528653608110{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Flower Crowns

Flower crowns are a great way to add colour and texture to your summer wedding hairstyle – it can totally transform your up do!

There are so many different options to choose from. Go for an understated floral chain or a big and bold wreath style.

Choosing flowers that match your bouquets and decor is a wonderful way to tie your whole theme together. You could even pick a few wild flowers and make your own for a sentimental touch.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1528653698710{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Half Up/Half Down

This is a great style for keeping your hair away from your face but still maintaining a hair down look.

Keep it simple and chilled with discretely placed pins or get intricate with the addition of plaits – a great look for a festival wedding.

The half up half down look is also a great choice if you can’t decide on up or down as you can un-pin and change it up when it’s time to hit the dance floor – it’s essentially a 2-4-1 style![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3072″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1528654692919{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”2281″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1528654860755{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1528653932259{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Crown Braid

Another wedding classic is the crown braid. It’ll last all day and keeps your hair off your face and neck.

Like the other styles we’ve discussed, you can keep it super neat or use deconstructed plaits for a more relaxed look. Add accessories or keep it simple. The choice is yours!

If you want to go for a combination of this fab style and a half up half down look, a crown braid paired with cascading curls at the back looks incredible. Natural Radiance

Summer is all about that natural glow.

If you’re worried about a face full of make up on a hot summers day, a tinted moisturiser is a lovely, light alternative that is breathable yet buildable. It is possible to achieve great coverage while still looking natural, so don’t fret if you want both! You can let those freckles shine through and keep the look organic, but flawless all the same.

If full foundation is your thing, that’s still very doable in keeping with a light and effortless look – it just takes skill!

Match flawless, glowing skin with a flower crowned up do for the perfect wedding combo![/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2333″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1528654887252{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1528654110458{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Bright Lip

Summer is all about colour and a bright lip can add that perfect pop without going overboard.

If you’re keen to go for a vibrant lip, keep the rest of your face pared back and natural and choose your colour with caution! It must suit your skin tone or the result will be less than flattering.

You can be as brave as you want and don’t be put off by age! If you’re a mature bride who loves the idea of a bright lip, go for it! Be true to you.

Bold Eyes

The smoky eye is a classic wedding look but for a summer wedding, you might want to mix it up a little. There are two ways to add colour to your eyes. You can go all out and choose a bright and bold eyeshadow, super modern, daring and fun. But, if that is a little intimidating then opt for a coloured eye-liner for that pop without over-doing it.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2752″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1528654925706{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1528654373702{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Dewy

You want to look like you’re glowing from within on your wedding day. You want to shine! You want to look like the best version of yourself and by choosing a dewy make up look you can go for fresh-faced and glorious without looking like you’ve tried to hard. Speak to your make up artist for tips for keeping you glowing all day.

Barely There

If you don’t usually wear much make up or are worried about feeling ‘heavy’ then go for the barely there look. This is ideal for a casual wedding or if you’ve opted for a more detailed hairstyle.

Concentrate on your skin: you want a beautiful base and natural shadow colours to compliment your eye colour. You can still use false lashes to make your eyes pop as individual lashes look very real!

This makeup style is all about looking like you’re wearing barely any make-up and instead just looking like the most beautiful version of you. You want people to think you’re radiating love and nothing more![/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2945″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1528654957847{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1528654076737{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Sun-kissed

Summer is all about looking sun-kissed and ‘glowy’ and this can be achieved with careful bronzer application in all the places you would naturally catch the sun. Highlighting and contouring can also help with this, but in both cases, less is more and blending is key!

Pair this with the top knot to really show off that warm, summer radiance, an elegant and beautiful combo!

Ethereal

Nothing says summer wedding better than a light, ethereal make up look. Light pinks, barely-there nudes and rosy cheeks for beautifully uncomplicated make-up.

If you’ve chosen the boho-braids then there is no better match! Adding a little highlighter in the inner corner of your eyes can really make the look pop.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

It’s totally doable – if you’re willing to put the effort in. It will come as no great shock to hear that Meghan Markle’s wedding preparations are pretty intense (fit for a princess, no less!) but as we’ll soon find out, the results are almost certainly going to be worth it.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_cta h2=”Preparing for your Big Day?” h4=”Get in touch to book your bridal hair & makeup trial!” txt_align=”center” add_button=”bottom” btn_title=”Contact” btn_size=”lg” btn_align=”center” btn_link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.weddingmakeupandhair.com%2Fcontact%2F|||”][/vc_cta][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1526229290417{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]Embed from Getty Images[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1526228237317{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]It’s the final countdown to the Big Day now and Meghan and Harry have both been busy ticking items off their ‘to-do’ list. From quitting drinking and getting fit to having facial massages and regular manicures, Meghan is undoubtedly going to look flawless as she walks down the aisle.

Aside from booking in for her bridal hair and makeup, rumoured to be with celebrity stylist Miguel Perez who is famous for his big, bouncy curls, there are plenty of other appointments Meghan is sticking to. Here are a handful of the most essential, that you might want to consider adding to your pre-wedding regime…[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1526228313132{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

The Facials

Meghan opts for facials that go one step further than your average, for that winning wedding photo smile! Rather than purely focusing on the skin, these extra-special facials work on the muscles of the face by massaging inside the mouth to strengthen and tone. Going to a pro is always going to get the best results, but at £260 a session with ‘skin guru’ Nichola Joss, it doesn’t hurt to know how to DIY at home!

In an interview with Marie Claire, Nichola explained:

“If you have troublesome skin and you need some corrective work, like if you have acne or scarring, you need to start working on a routine at least four or five months before the big day, seeing your facialist every two weeks to get your skin in the best condition you can. You can eventually cut it down to every three weeks, but you should still be getting regular massages between those appointments.”

The Manicures

Perfect nails are a must on your wedding day – the last thing you want are scruffy hands for those ring close-ups.

Meghan gets regular manicures to keep her fingers looking their best, so naturally she has her manicurist booked to visit her the day before her wedding. My advice is that you do the same! If your hands and nails needs a little TLC, treat yourself to a series of manicures leading up to your wedding to get them into the best condition possible. If they’re not in bad shape, still book your wedding day nail appointment in advance so you know you’ve got that. Book it for the day before, if possible. Failing that, in the week running up.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1526228416490{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

The Workout

Exercising before your wedding is not necessarily about losing weight or squeezing into a particular dress size – it’s also a fantastic stress buster for when all the planning gets on top of you and it can help to improve your posture for walking down the aisle.

Meghan Markle has purportedly been getting wedding fit using Heartcore Pilates, taught by her friend and pro instructor Heather Dorak, but she’s also been ensuring a healthy mind with her regular meditation. Apparently she attended a four-day initiation class with mindful coach Light Watkins and came away with her own, personal mantra to help ‘calm and centre’ her mind. Lovely![/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”3053″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1526229421192{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1526230114071{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]Pilates is a brilliant pre-wedding exercise as it will help you stand up straight and really look your best as you walk down the aisle. Here’s an easy posture improving pilates  exercise you can try, from Marguerite Ogle at VeryFitWell:

Posture and Alignment Exercise

  1. Begin standing. Stand with your feet and legs directly under your hips. Your legs and feet are parallel, and your knees are pointing forward, straight but not locked. Get details on good leg alignment.
  1. Balance Your Weight. Adjust your body so that your weight feels like it is falling directly through the middle of the foot. A good way to do this is to rock slightly forward and back on your feet, making the movement smaller and smaller until you feel your weight is balanced over the center of your foot.
  1. Activate your core muscles. Lightly pull your abdominal muscles in and up. As you do so you engage the pelvic floor muscles as well. You are going for a feeling of aliveness in the core. Just this move is usually enough to improve one’s posture significantly.
  2. Drop the tailbone. Activating the core will allow you to drop your tailbone down toward the floor. This is a neutral spine position, where the natural curves of the spine are present without tucking or hyper-extending(sway back) the pelvis. A popular image is that the pelvis is a bowl of water and you don’t want the water to spill out to the front or the back.
  3. Relax and open your chest. The chest is not caved in and not thrust out, just resting easily. There is a small point at the bottom of your sternum, and that, like the tail bone, should be pointing straight down.
  4. Shoulders down, broad back. Allow your chest to drop and open as your back expands. As this happens and you feel the support from your core, your shoulders drop away from your ears and your shoulder blades slide down your back. Cultivate a posture whereby your core is holding you up, not your shoulders!
  5. Ears reach for the sky. Your head and neck are completely supported by your core and easily float above your shoulders. Imagine that the tops of your ears are reaching for the sky. Your gaze is straight forward, with your throat open and chin resting naturally.

Review the lineup. If you were seen from the side your body part line up will look like this:

  • ankles
  • knees
  • hips
  • shoulders
  • ears

Marguerite suggests going through this posture checklist as many times as you can during the day and says “it is an especially good exercise to do once you are warmed up, or even after a workout when your awareness is heightened and core well engaged.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1526229655507{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]Embed from Getty Images[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1526228540698{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

The Brows

Meghan Markle apparently goes for a brow shape called ‘The Audrey’ at Riley’s Mayfair salon, clearly, after the gorgeous Audrey Hepburn.

This style is allegedly designed to instantly lift the face with tinting, threading and tweezing will make all the difference to her overall look. The brows are so important as they are the frame of the face!

When getting your eyebrows done before your wedding day, make sure that you leave a few days before you’re actually walking down the aisle, just in case you get any irritation.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”3054″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1526229540066{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1526228574780{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

The Health-Kick

The Markle Sparkle secret weapon? Well, it’s been said that she has two, actually: Matcha tea and Manuka honey.

Both of these are packed with skin-clearing, health-boosting anti-oxidants making them the perfect health kick before your wedding day. You can eat/drink them both and wear them as a face mask too![/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”3055″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1526229729849{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1526228729119{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]Here’s how to make your own Matcha and Manuka honey face mask, with a wonderful recipe from Anna Marie Gianni:

Matcha Green Tea Mask

If you’d like to see what green tea can do for you when you put it on your skin, we have a simple way for you to try it.

First, start with a quality matcha green tea product. Matcha is a good option for skin care because it is naturally more potent than regular green tea.

Next, mix a tablespoon or two of your powder with one or more of the following ingredients, depending on what effects you’re looking for:

  • Few drops of lemongrass (for cleansing and purifying)
  • Tablespoon of rosewater and several drops lavender oil (to soothe sensitive skin and minimize the appearance of large pores)
  • A tablespoon of manuka honey and yogurt (for deep moisturization)
  • One egg (to absorb excess oil, tighten, and tone)
  • Water or aloe vera gel (for simple anti-aging effects)
  • One-half to one teaspoon coconut oil(to create smooth, soft, radiant skin)

You can always add a few drops water to any of the above to create your preferred consistency.

Apply the mixture to your face, and leave on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing and following with your favourite moisturiser.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1526230042073{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Bridal Prep

Whatever your bridal prep schedule before your wedding day, the most important thing is that you stay calm and happy! It’s so easy to get swept up in the organisation that you don’t leave enough ‘me time’. Meghan’s bridal prep largely focuses on her mental and physical wellbeing and this is what is going to give you that gorgeous glow more than anything else. Apart from some strategic highlighting and contouring, of course![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Whatever shades you decide upon will influence not only the flowers and décor, but your dress and what your fiancé wears, your bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen suits, the invitations, the wedding favours, the food…every tiny aspect has the potential to be impacted by this one choice – so you’d better get it right!

With so many colours to choose from and so many ways in which it needs to fit, selecting the perfect shade combo can be challenging. It needs to go much further than just being your day-to-day favourite colours as this won’t necessarily fit in with your wedding theme or venue. You need to find tones that look great in all areas, that are flattering and that complement each-other like a dream.

Fortunately, as with all things wedding, there are annual trends to help you make the best choice. For 2018, there are a few palettes that have taken the lead on the bridal runway that you are going to just love. For those of you feeling brave enough to choose something bold, we’re looking at the Pantone Colour of the Year: Ultraviolet. For the Brides-to-be who want to go for femininity and timeless romance, its got to be the Blush & Grey combo that never seems to go out of favour…[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_cta h2=”Find the PERFECT Bridal Hair & Makeup to go with Your Colour Scheme…” txt_align=”center” add_button=”bottom” btn_title=”View Galleries” btn_size=”lg” btn_align=”center” btn_link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.weddingmakeupandhair.com%2Fphoto-galleries%2F%3Fterm%3D11%26orderby%3Ddate%26order%3DDESC|||”][/vc_cta][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1521402027377{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Ultra-Violet

You’ve probably already started to see this year’s Pantone Colour of the Year taking over pretty much everywhere and the wedding industry is no exception.

Bold and undeniably beautiful, this vibrant shade is perhaps one that you might not have considered in the past, but now that we’re being presented with its stunning potential here, there and everywhere, it’s time to have a re-think.

Said to communicate “originality, ingenuity and visionary thinking that points us towards the future”, Ultra-violet is a wonderful choice if you’re looking for a wedding colour theme that’s more than just aesthetically pleasing, but inspirational too and a nod towards the amazing things that are yet to come as you make your way into the adventure of married life.

Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Colour Institute says “The Pantone Colour of the Year has come to mean so much more than ‘what’s trending’ in the world of design; it’s truly a reflection of what’s needed in our world today.”

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”2982″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1521479572604{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Make it work by…

It is clear to anyone that ultra-violet is a pretty strong hue, which when you’re thinking about using it as an overall wedding theme could end up being a little over-powering. Make it work for your big day by:

  • Using ultra-violet more as a splash of incredible purple accents alongside white and maybe even gold if you fancy embracing the decadent side (and why not – it is your wedding day after all!).

  • Finding it in nature. As shown in THE BLACK TUX mood board, ultra-violet is present in the natural world in the form of some really gorgeous flowers. Using blooms to blend this bright colour into your wedding day, alongside bridesmaid dresses, table dressing or anywhere else you’d like to throw it in can help to lend a more romantic feel than a synthetic one.

  • Embracing your fairytale princess! There’s no way around it – the ultra-violet colour theme is kind of a magical one and very definitely girly. I love the golden filled macaroons shown here on the mood board and can’t help but feel as though there’s something a bit Disney or maybe even ‘Mad Hatters Tea Party’ about them.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”2213″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1521478652537{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1521479615388{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Lilac & Green

If you love the idea of integrating purple into your wedding day but don’t want to go full on ultra-violet, how about blending lilac and greens together instead for and ethereal woodland feel?

This is just so perfect for the summer bride who has chosen to take the party outside. Save on décor costs by using what nature has already given you in your outdoor venue and brighten it up a bit with shots of varying lilac tones.

One big plus side to having two contrasting colours as your palette is that you have the option of mixing and matching your bridesmaid dresses. It’s so hard to please everyone with a single colour, so this gives your girls the chance to choose their favourite which might end up easing unwanted tension![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”2983″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1521478551924{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1521480303696{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Make it work by…

If full-on ultra-violet is a bit much for you but you’re a fan of purple, toning it done and blending it in with subdued nature tones is the perfect alternative. Lilac and green is one colour theme we’ll be seeing lots of in 2018. Make it work by:

  • Sticking to just two block colours can get a bit boring, so liven it up by using a wide variety of tones that fall into the remit of lilac and green.

  • Get your guy wearing ‘stone’ or ‘oatmeal’ for his suit shade. This is not your usual tux, but for an outside summer wedding it can be the perfect solution when darker colours just seem a bit heavy. It works really well with lilac and green and you’ll look elegant yet fresh as you walk down the aisle together.

  • Keep your bridal makeup natural. Just because you’re going for a colourful theme doesn’t mean you need to go for colourful makeup. In fact, with all that vibrancy around you’ll be better off going for understated beauty.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”2063″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1521478852138{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1521478773298{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Slate & Moss

These fresh, earthy tones work all year round – gorgeous for an outdoorsy spring/summer wedding and equally so when combining with furry stoles and twinkly lights in winter.

Although this colour scheme allows for a very classic wedding, it also has a very contemporary appearance that will keep the overall style of your big day on point.

If you’re a nature-inspired bride with a love of Boho bridal hairstyles and the latest slate smoky eye trend, this is the ideal colour palette for you. Just imagine: your ‘naked’ wedding cake, quirky rustic décor and perhaps a barn venue. Just divine![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”2985″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1521478888535{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1521480178989{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Make it work by…

This is such a sophisticated colour scheme and if you choose it for your upcoming wedding, you can rest assured that you are totally on trend. Subtle and simple yet carrying it’s own special decadence, make it work by:

  • Using large, cream flowers sparingly with lots of sage and mossy toned foliage to make up your bouquets and other floral arrangements.

  • Including pops of colour here and there. Slate and moss and stunning colours but alone, they can look a little drab. Just an injection of colour every so often can really bring the whole look together.

  • Embracing the 2018 slate smoky eye! As mentioned above, this is one of the hottest eye makeup trends of the year and it’s an ideal match with this colour scheme.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”2954″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1521479020037{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1521479052743{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Blush & Grey

Blush and grey tones just never seem to go out of fashion in the wedding world, so if you love these colours you simply can’t go wrong! If you’re after romance, there isn’t any other colour scheme that gives it off quite like this one. Peachy hues and splashes of dove grey embodies classic glamour and a loved up feel and as an added bonus – it is super versatile.

Think pink and embrace it! Pink champagne, pink rose petals, pink candles, pink cakes. It will look fabulous! The addition of soft grey will keep it under control just enough to make sure it looks elegant rather than like a little girl’s birthday party.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”2984″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1521478989679{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1521480084493{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

Make it work by…

Blush and grey is the number one wedding colour scheme for romance, so if that’s your thing you are going to love it. Don’t forget – pink is not just for girls! It can also be a really flattering colour for the guys and very cool. If the Groomsmen are willing to brave pink suits, do it! Make this colour scheme work by:

  • Matching your blush bridesmaid dresses with the groomsmen accessories for cute synchronicity.

  • Saving the blush colour for your own dress and have your bridal party in grey instead. If you love it, go for it! Brides are not confined to only wearing white anymore. A pink-hued gown will look absolutely incredible.

  • Not being afraid to go overboard. Having dusky, pale pink everything with grey accents can look great. Unlike some of the brighter colours which can get a little overwhelming, it’s hard to overdo the peachy tones.

  • Throwing a bit of glitter in there. Let’s face it, blush and grey is super-girly so if you want to have a bit of sparkle involved, it’s certainly not going to look out of place here.

Tips for Beautiful Hair & Skin at Your Winter Wedding

The winter months are often the most drying for hair and skin, thanks to the blasts of hot central heating and cold air and the chill leading many of us to stop drinking as much water as perhaps we should be.

Because of this, hydration is key to keeping your hair lustrous and your skin soft, smooth and supple – the perfect base for making the most of makeup.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”2466″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1513879764639{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1513879239972{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

  • Treat yourself to an over-night hair oil treatment once or twice a week on the run up to your wedding for locks that are super shiny and frizz-free. Spend at least 10 minutes applying the oil of your choice with a luxurious scalp massage to really stimulate the blood flow to your scalp for optimal hair growth and balanced sebum production.

  • Your skin is going to be pretty thirsty too, so whatever you do – don’t skip the moisturiser! A weekly intense hydration mask will help to reduce fine lines and wrinkles that are exacerbated by dehydration and leave you with plump, youthful, healthy skin.

  • Avoid really hot showers. It can be tempting to crank up the heat when you’re showering on a cold day, but that hot water is as damaging to your hair as heat styling and it will also strip your scalp of much-needed moisture which can lead to a flaky appearance, so keep it cool whenever possible.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”2478″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1514478570980{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1513879273517{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

  • If you suffer from frizzy, flyaway hair, a silk turban for sleeping in might be what you need. You’ve got that ring on your finger so your other half can’t leave you now, even if you do look a bit mad at bedtime! Despite the funky appearance, it’s totally worth it. Wrapping your hair in silk helps to retain moisture in each strand as well as depositing some of that luxurious silk, whilst also avoiding excess static-causing friction as you sleep. Check out SILKE London for some ready to wear turbans that actually look pretty glam…

  • Dry skin isn’t as good as hydrated skin at shedding dead skin cells, so exfoliation during winter months in preparation for your wedding day is a must! Buy yourself a lovely exfoliator and add this important step into your skincare routine each night before bed. Gently does it! You don’t need to scrub (this will do more harm than good!) just light, circular motions will do the trick. Exfoliate before you go to bed so that your skin doesn’t have to content with UV rays afterwards and slather on that moisturiser when you’re done.

So many of my older clients write to me before their big day to express their concern over whether or nor it is possible for them to really love the way they look on their wedding day, but these worries are totally unfounded.

Many of my most stunning clients have been mature brides – age just doesn’t play a part when it comes to me helping you look totally gorgeous as you walk down the aisle.

It is true though, the hair and makeup for mature brides is a specialised skill – one that I am very proud to possess! Not because age makes you any less lovely but because it’s an undeniable fact that as we get older, our hair and skin changes and as a Bridal Hair and Makeup Artist it is essential to have the right knowledge and techniques to know how to get the best results.

From selecting the right products to showing you the most flattering styles, I know just how to make my mature brides look and feel amazing![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

I love using Rose Dew by Cosmetics a la carte on my mature brides as it is a lovely, moisturising base layer for dry skin which leaves your skin feeling plump, fresh and hydrated, ready for some flawless foundation!

if your skin is still a bit oily, lucky you! Oily skin tends to form fewer wrinkles and tell-tale signs of ageing. This does, however, mean that you’ll need a different primer to suit your skin type: Laura Mercier oil free primer is a great product for oily skin and helps to keep the oil at bay whilst diminishing open pores.

Cosmetics a la carte Matte Miracle is another fab option: A beautifully light, oil absorbing gel that you can use on the t-zone – an essential to avoid looking shiny on camera.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”2167″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1543995609429{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

No more wrinkles!

Worried about wrinkles getting in the way of you and you ideal wedding day look?

Benefit Porefessional is one of my favourite products to use on my mature brides as it makes enlarged pores and fine lines vanish, by literally filling them in and making them disappear.

Wrinkles around the eyes can be some of the trickiest to deal with, but a great eye primer can go a long way it smoothing out and preventing eyeshadow creases. I find that Inglot Eyeshadow Keeper is the best eye primer for mature skin as it is light and colourless, yet effective – perfect for very delicate skin.

Troublesome under eye area Maybelline Age Rewind Eye Concealer is one of those low cost items that really works. It’s light in texture and is super easy to apply.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”2041″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1495172091066{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1544598832811{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]

All about the base

Everything goes to pot if you don’t get the foundation right on mature skin. I always keep application smooth and light with a product that is lightweight yet buildable so that is can provide great coverage where it’s needed. Many Bridal Makeup Artists get this wrong by being way to heavy handed in an attempt to cover up signs of ageing, but this only ever makes things worse!

I love Firm & Glow by Cosmetics a la carte it comes in a wide range of shades, it’s light weight and anti-ageing whilst having good coverage – all at the same time!

A very light dusting of powder will help to set the foundation – making sure every thing stays in place – particularly important if you have oily skin. MAC Prep & Prime loose powder has a lovely fine texture so it works beautifully on mature brides. It is colourless and so works on all skin tones.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Contouring

Mature brides should avoid heavy contouring – as seen on YouTube! A gentle touch goes a long way.

I’ve found a lovely product Bare Cheek by one of my favourite makeup houses – Cosmetics a la carte.

Bare Cheek is a translucent gel that gives an ultra-natural bronze tint, smooths and perfects skin texture, and a radiant glow. Preservative-and perfume-free so ideal for sensitive skins.

Apply under the cheek bones and jaw for a fabulous sheer contour effect.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1543994710823{margin-top: 32px !important;}”]

Just a touch on the apples of your cheeks or along your cheekbones in all you need. There’s so much choice out there – have a browse around at MAC, Bobby Brown and Inglot – you’ll be spoilt for choice!

Highlighter should be subtle – not harsh. When correctly positioned it should sit on the upper edge of your cheek bones. It can look lovely – but it is dangerously close to the fine laughter lines around our eyes – and too much shimmer here will accentuate those lines and pile on the years – so go easy with the highlighter.

MAC Soft & Gentle is a powder shimmer that is definitely one of my new favorites.

If you prefer a cream highlighter try Shine Illuminator for a fabulous gentle, dewy finish.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1543994729685{margin-top: 32px !important;}”]

The Eyes Have It

The way that eye makeup is applied might be the thing that requires the closest attention to change on mature skin, as anything too heavy or harsh will really accentuate signs of ageing.

Liquid and pencil eyeliners create a line that is way too harsh for mature brides, so instead, I like the add definition with a well blended, dark eyeshadow applied with a small, angled brush, for a soft sultry look that never smudges.

I keep eyelids looking youthful by steering clear of shadows that contain too much glitter and shimmer, instead opting for matte or very light shimmer products.

Eyelashes are usually a little thinner on my mature brides, so it’s really important to use an incredible mascara that creates impressive volume without clumping. I stick to my favourite, Clinique Lash Power Mascara, and finish the look off with a few individual false lashes.

I go easy on the brows, making sure that they are beautifully defined with a brow powder or wax, but never overdone or heavy.  Powders and waxes are easier to control than a pencil – bit if you find pencils easier to use – find one that is not too soft – so you can control the amount of product you’re applying. Once it is on it’s hard to get off and remember less is more!

Apply just enough to create a flattering frame is what I aim for. Try this one by Anastasia Beverly Hills[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”2051″ img_size=”full” onclick=”custom_link” css=”.vc_custom_1495210947121{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}” link=”http://twigandvine.photography/”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1495211009421{margin-top: 32px !important;margin-bottom: 32px !important;}”]
